Our Beginnings
In late 1989, a group of Conway citizens came together with a shared concern for the unsheltered in our community. They saw hopelessness, fear, shame, and emotional and physical pain. These citizens formed Bethlehem House, Conway's first and only homeless service. The house opened in 1994 to fill the gap for individuals and families experiencing homelessness by providing temporary housing while they are motivated, encouraged, and empowered to become independent, productive, and self-sufficient.
We have a 30-year history of working with homeless individuals and have seen thousands of changed lives. In 2013, our facility at 1115 Parkway Ave opened with the ability to house 38 individuals, including children and families. Today, Bethlehem House serves more than 100 people each year during their journey out of homelessness.
